Origins Super Spot Remover

Origins’ Super Spot Remover is a Salicylic Acid (SA) based acne treatment gel.

It’s spot treatment, which means it is to be applied to cleansed skin, directly on the pimple.

Right off the bat it’s safe to say that if you tend to respond to SA based products, then this is the treatment for you.

I should also mention that my skin is completely oblivious where SA products are concerned, so the Super Spot Remover gel was pretty much useless to me.

Salicylic Acid is from the aspirin family, so it essentially minimizes inflammation while reducing pimple soreness and discomfort.

You may also have heard of homemade aspirin masks, which more or less perform in the same manner.

I have yet to hear anything but rave reviews where this product is concerned.

I didn’t see result, but to be fair my situation is more of a “it’s not you, it’s me” sort of scenario.

The product only costs $15.50. It’s a tiny little bottle (10 ml), but it’s very unlikely that you’ll be able to use the whole thing up during its 2 year shelf life. At the risk of sounding cliché, a little goes a very long way. You literally apply half a drop to each spot.

It’s best used at night, without piling on other layers of skincare. I like applying it and letting it breath, maximizing on the full exfoliating properties of the SA.

The scent is very strong and medicinal at first, but dissipates with time.

The SA concentration is strong enough to be effective, but not too strong to leave dry patches of skin. I don’t recommend wearing this under makeup, as it tends to become slightly flakey through the buffing action of makeup application.

It does leave a thin, crusty residue on the skin while drying.

Overall, considering the low price point this is definitely a product worth testing out.

I’m interested in looking into Kate Somerville’s version of Mario Badescu’s Drying Lotion.

Are they similar in performance?

Appearance wise they seem to be identical.
