The Keratin Infusing Smoothing Serum is a great product for my hair, but terrible for my neck!
This super light serum is great at taming frizzy hair, but what’s up with all the neck acne?
I like to let my hair air dry. Depending on the weather, the outcome ranges anywhere between soft and loose waves to frizz ball. This serum from Tresemme’s Keratin Smooth line does a great job at taming frizz and moisturizing the hair without weighing the hair down. The added bonus is that it smells amazing. It has a perfumed soap scent which dissipates slightly with time, but lingers enough to be pleasant. People always ask me if I’m wearing a new perfume whenever I use this serum.
Now on to the bizarre neck acne.
I used this 4 days in a row and noticed a few pimples on my neck by day 3.
I have very long hair, so thought nothing of it and just tactfully repositioned my hair to hide the cystic bumps (which resembled vampire bite marks at this point).
Just to test my hunch, I stopped using the serum and my neck cleared right up.
A week later I used the product again and relived the whole cycle over.
Of course, I’m stubborn and in denial (mainly because I really liked the effect of the serum) so I waited a week, tried the product gain and lo and behold, the cystic vampire bites were back.
I’m conflicted because the product is quintessentially cheap and cheerful. It’s cheap, produces great results, smells great, and lasts forever.
I could try putting my hair up to keep it from hanging around my neck all day, but what’s the point of attempting to tame frizz if my hair is in a bun?

The Verdict: I love the serum, but my neck can’t put up with all the abuse.
